Love Island 2022: Liam Llwellyn Leaves the Show
It might only have been five days, but we’re already saying goodbye to one of the “Love Island” 2022 OGs. During the 10 June episode, 22-year-old Liam Llwellyn announced that he would be leaving the ITV2 show and heading home.
Calling his fellow Islanders around the firepit to make the announcement, he said, “I haven’t really been feeling like I’ve been giving 100 percent Liam. I know what 100 percent Liam feels like, and I’m miles off that. Trying to find someone to leave the villa with that you care about . . . obviously, that’s the goal, isn’t it? But when you’re not feeling that, it makes it a very hard time to find that.” Llewellyn then told the group that he had decided to leave the villa, assuring them that it wasn’t a “spur of the moment” decision.
The revelation left many of the Islanders visibly shocked and in tears. They declared how proud they were of him and what a nice guy he is, with the boys already speculating about the dates he’ll get when he returns to Wales.
The Welsh student had a rocky start to his “Love Island” experience. He was coupled up with Gemma Owen on day one after the public voted for them to start off together, but when Davide Sanclimenti joined and chose to recouple with Owen, Llwellyn was left single. He told the rest of the boys that he was still going to “pull her for chats” in hopes of winning her back.
Then came two new bombshells. Llwellyn headed on dates with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Afia Tonkmor, only to friend zoned. While everyone in the villa had nothing but praise for Llwelyn, he was unlucky in love.
We’ve loved watching him on our screens and had him down as one of the sweetest boys in the villa, but his state of mind is the most important thing. We salute him for knowing that he needs to put himself first, although there’s no doubt that he’ll be missed.
