Netflix has found a replacement for Frank Langella in the film adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher. The role of the patriarch of the Roderick Asher clan will be played by Bruce Greenwood, familiar to viewers from the films ” Star Trek, “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets ” and others, instead of the retired Hollywood veteran.

Recall that Frank Langella left the show after allegedly making inappropriate remarks about an unnamed female cast member. Unfortunately, his dismissal happened when the filming process was in full swing, so now the scenes with his participation will have to be re-shot, which will significantly increase the cost of the project.

The series is led by Mike Flanagan, who has previously collaborated with Greenwood several times, including working on Doctor Sleep. Their new collaboration is being described as an epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy.

The work was first published in 1839. It tells about the mysterious and gloomy events taking place in an isolated country estate. It is entirely feasible that the series will include elements from other works of the famous American writer. However, the premiere date has not yet been specified.

Frank Langella has been in the film industry since 1970, and his first role was Ostap Bender in the American film adaptation of Mel Brooks’ 12 Chairs. During his life, he won four Tony awards, as well as a nominee for the Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA awards. He was last seen as Judge Julius Hoffman in The Trial of the Chicago Seven.

The Fall of the House of Usher is directed by Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House). The cast includes Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Carla Gugino (Midnight Mass), Mary McDonnell (Fargo), and Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep).
