Netflix is ​​no longer the most popular streaming service for movies and series. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, the company lost 200,000 subscribers – the service refused to serve Russian users and increased prices for American users. The management believes that the service will lose another two million people by July. 

To get out of the crisis, the company plans to introduce a new tariff with advertising, as well as to choose future projects more carefully. In this regard, the management decided to abandon the production of some films and series, and the animated series Megan Markle “Pearl” became one of them. 

Pearl” was supposed to tell about the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who is trying to find herself, inspired by the example of strong women who left their mark on history. The cartoon was produced by Meghan Markle, and the idea belonged to Archewell Productions. The organization was founded in 2020 by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The second creative and executive producer was the husband of British singer Elton John, film director David Furnisher. Viewers will still be able to see this animated series if some service buys the idea.  

The Dukes of Sussex have not yet commented on the news. However, recall that in April 2021, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry signed a multi-million dollar contract with Netflix. 

Meghan and Harry, who married in 2018, signed a multi-year aggregate deal with Netflix in September 2020 after an offer of nearly ً 100 million, sources told us weekly at the time.
